Easy or hard take your pick!

While I was out on a walk today and it was a bit cold and I even saw a few snow flakes. As I came to the half way point of my walk I had two choices. I could take a shorter route which I was still sure I'd get my 10,000 steps in for the day or I could go the longer way.

I honestly talked to myself for a couple of minutes and thought to myself "you know when you step on the scale will you be happy with yourself because you worked hard this week no matter what the scale says or will you shake your head because the scale isn't showing what you want to see plus you know you could have done more?"

Well I chose the longer route and as someone I know says "you never regret a great workout"! Isn't that the truth.

Easy or hard can come in many forms.

Do you weigh and measure even though it takes a couple of extra minutes?
Do you workout even when sitting on the couch would be easier?
Do you take those stairs just to get an added boost to your day?
Do you say no to food pushers when you aren't hungry, have your food planned and it doesn't include junk?
Sometimes the easiest thing to say is yes but stop and think which direction that action will lead you to.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 turkey sausage, kale, mushrooms, 1/2 serving of my Giant gingerbread recipe made into 2 small muffins with 2 tsp becel pro active margarine and yogurt 8sp

Lunch: kale salad with 2 tsp olive oil, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, endive leaves with turkey, sf cranberry sauce and jalepeno's 5sp

Dinner: pc free from English Banger sausage, 1/2 c vegetarian baked beans, peppers and onions and a mandarin orange 11sp

Other: kefir, cream for coffees and a mini blueberry muffin 6sp

A busy day!

Managed to get lots of steps in today!

First I had to get up early so that I could bus/walk to a meeting.

After the meeting I walked to Jen's to visit with with Lucas and Jen. He's getting so big!! And he loves Grammy  <3

While I was there I took Bubba for a walk in the cemetery! Love the random heart

One of the things that helped me to stick to plan today was to take my own lunch so I wasn't tempted to pick up junk food while I was out.

Then I stopped at the grocery store to grab something quick for dinner.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 tsp olive oil, smoked breakfast ham slices and a mini fruit cobbler 5sp

Lunch: veggies, light cheese, rice crackers, yogurt, turkey and grapes 6sp

Dinner: 2 President's choice frozen cabbage rolls, cauliflower rice with kale/onion/peppers and 1/4c pasta sauce 10 sp

Other: kefir, cream for coffees clementine orange and a glass of red wine 9sp

Getting it done!

It's so good to be back on plan. Today I wanted to make sure I drank my water. I have a way of ummmmm putting it off and then not getting my 8 cups in. I physically feel so much better when I do get my water drank. That's one of the things I miss with the new app is not having a way to check of glasses of water. I do it with pen and paper but it was so easy on the old app.

I was going to go for a walk but it was so cold that I decided on walking in the mall instead!

I found this bread in Walmart that's 1sp for 1 slice or 3sp for 2 and it's a bigger loaf than the Weight watchers ones.

I went to David's tea to buy one of their new iced tea travel tumblers but they were all sold out so I'll have to check now and then until they get more in. It will be a reward to stick to plan :)

Breakfast:1 egg, 1/2 serving of leftover brownie waffle that I toasted, 1 tbsp sf pancake syrup, Free from smoked breakfast ham, tomatoes and 1 tsp olive oil 8sp

Lunch: veggies, extra lean turkey, beet salad with 1 tbsp Kraft ff whipped mayo, yogurt not shown, mandarin orange and 8 cheddar rice crackers 4sp

Dinner: Grilled chicken Caesar salad and a banana 7sp

Other: kefir, cream for coffees, blueberry muffin and a glass of red wine 11sp

When you fail to plan you plan to fail!

O.k I had a couple of bad days.

I failed to plan ahead and that definitely was one of the main problems that knocked me off my game plan.

Other issues were too many carbs and not enough water.

Yes even I have bad days.

But today I sat down and planned out the next couple days and I have no doubt they are going to be good days and on plan.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, extra lean ham, 1 tsp olive oil, kale and strawberries 4sp

Lunch: 1/2 can boneless skinless pink salmon, veggies, 1 tbsp kraft ff whipped mayo, endive leaves, grapes and yogurt 4sp

Dinner: roasted chicken, low sodium gravy, potato, sf cranberry sauce, 1/4c peas, broccoli 8sp

Other: kefir, cream for coffees, ff sf cappuccino and a glass of red wine 14sp

Spring can come any time!

Woke up this morning to record breaking cold temperatures! Thank goodness it was sunny because at least some of the snow melted.

Fitbit has a new feature this week and it's that they track during 9 hours how many hours you have 250 or more steps! Yesterday I missed a couple of hours and today I hit it every hour.

Today I went to visit Jen and Lucas. He is growing so quickly I try to see him every week just to make sure I don't miss too much :)

Breakfast: Bob's red mill mighty tasty hot cereal with some mixed fruit and 1 tbsp ff cream 4sp

Lunch: Taco salad boats with raw veggies and an apple 4sp

Dinner: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 4 oz potato, 2 Lilydale turkey sausages, 2 tsp olive oil, kale and yogurt 12 sp

Other: kefir, banana, ff cream for coffees and a glass of red wine 9sp

It's winter again!!

We had a lot of snow overnight so hopefully for the last time I grabbed my snow boots and off I went for a walk. Hopefully it will be sandals/flip flops soon!

The snow where I walk hadn't been walked on before me and I have to say it was a workout. Really hard to walk in snow that was up to the top of my snow boots for an hour.

End of a good week

So today is my weekly weigh in day and the beginning of a new week.

For the last few days I've been eating simply filling but counting smart points and so far it seems to be a good fit for me.

I have been up and down the last few weeks but after a solid on plan week I was down -3.0 on the scale. Yep I was very happy to see that.

I also went for a 55 minute walk. Tonight we're supposed to get another bucket load of snow so I'll definitely be getting another walk in tomorrow.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1/2 oz light cheese, 1/2 serving of my brownie waffle and 3/4 tbsp of maple syrup 8sp

Lunch: taco salad using lean meat and an apple 7sp

Dinner: steamed salmon, broccoli, olive oil and carrots, creamy smooth pineapple chill 6sp

Day 5 of my smart points experiment!

Another day at work today. Still stayed away from food at work by taking my own.

I did buy a fat free sugar free green tea latte but that was definitely planned for and within my daily points.

Breakfast: 1/2 serving of oat cornmeal pancakes with berries, 2 eggs, olive oil and tomatoes 9sp

Lunch: leftover spanish cauliflower rice, spicy Thai chili tuna, olive oil and grapefruit 3sp

At work: lean meat, veggies, yogurt, grapes, 1/2 serving of leftover chocolate banana breakfast cookies and the latte 10sp

Day 4 of my Smart points experiment

As most of you know I'm a supervisor at a coffee/donut shop! It's really important that I take my own food or the temptation would be too hard.

Finding out what actions will help us to stay on plan is very important.

The other action that helps me stay strong at work is to take water. Drinking water helps to keep me satisfied and able to steer clear of the sugar filled drinks.

Breakfast: I made my Giant chocolate banana cookie but instead made 4 small ones and only had 2.
1 egg, 2 egg whites scrambled with a little chipotle powder on top, mushrooms, tomatoes and olive oil 8sp

Lunch: Amy's bean and vegetable burrito, clementine 9sp

At work: lettuce leaves for wraps, julienned veggies, extra lean ham, mayo, yogurt 5sp

Other: kefir, ff cream for coffees, green tea latte 7sp
