A very scary night!

Last night around 2 am we heard really loud banging! Over and over bang, bang, bang.

Now earlier in the evening our young neighbours had been outside drinking but by the time we went to bed they had gone inside.

Anyway back to 2 am! So Ralph and I decided to get up and go out to see what the banging was about. Several neighbours were standing in front of our young neighbours house banging on their door. We could hear the smoke detector going off but no answer at the door. They also have a little girl that was asleep upstairs. Someone called 911 and police and firemen came. They banged. No answer. They put a ladder up to the living room window to look in and the young couple were motionless on a mattress in their living room. So they took the window out and yelled out their names. Still no movement but their was smoke in the house. I guess what they had done was to get very drunk then start to make something to eat on the stove and then forget it and pass out on the mattress. The fire fighters finally had to crawl in the window and yell at the top of their lungs for them to get up which they finally did and then proceeded to blame everyone but themselves. They also tried to blame the smoke detectors because they didn't hear them yet we could all hear them outside!! We live in town houses so if their unit had caught on fire we would've had a good chance of also having the fire spread to ours.

Finally around 3:30 am I went back to bed. When I did wake up this morning I was definitely still tired.

Back to today: met Jen at Starbucks to go over last minute plans for the baby shower Sunday, she's so excited :) After that I stopped at a used book store to find some of Jen's favourite books when she was little that she can read to her son soon.

Stopped to smell the flowers.

Then home to do a bit of house cleaning and getting the bbq ready for dinner.

Hopefully tonight will be quiet.
